National HRD network in collaboration with Deccan Education Society (DES) hosted the 6th Learning & Development summit on the theme “Re-imagining Learning and Development”. It was held at the famed Amphitheater of Fergusson College, Pune on 4thof March 2020.
The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Aman Rajabali, Vice President, NHRDN, Pune Chapter while Mr. Anand Khot, President of NHRDN Pune Chapter gave the summit overview. Dr Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO,) Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India delivered the inaugural address. Mr. Mahesh Athavale in his address shared that DES which has a rich legacy of 136 years and about 100 educational units with 60,000 students under its aegis is taking major initiatives to keep pace with the times.
DES has recently signed a slew of MOU’s with different stakeholders. A MoU was signed with Ministry of Skill Development and Ministry of Human Resource development to start a unique Bachelor’s degree program in Management Skills. Also, it has engaged with industry giants like IBM for data science and data analytics.
He also reiterated that DES is committed to inculcating right values in its students to make them sound professionally and improve the students’ employability On this occasion a MoU was signed between NHRDN and DES units catering to Psychology and Management courses namely Fergusson College, IMDR and BMCC, Pune. The scope of the MOU ranges from providing an academia-industry interface, training opportunity for faculty and students, CSR funding, Internship, Placement to conducting collaborative research. The MoU envisions exchange of ideas and resources between the signatories to contribute in a meaningful way to fields of Organisation Behaviour, Organisation Development and Competency based talent management.
The day long summit gave an opportunity to students to listen to HR leaders of the country deliberate on current HR related issues like fast tagging organization and Artificial intelligence.
The highlight of the summit was the presence of Robot Chintu (IBM Watson Enabled-NAO Robot). Delegates travelled from across different cities in India like Bangalore, Chennai, Bombay and Ahmedabad to attend the summit. There was participation from countries like Singapore and Australia too. NHRDN National President Dr. Krish Shankar -Group CHRO Infosys did a special address sharing his perspective on the theme.
The summit concluding session was with Management guru Prof. Dr. T. V. Rao. In this session other industry stalwarts like Dr. Adil Malia and Mr. Ashok Ramchandran- CHRO Aditya Birla Group also shared their valuable insights on the summit theme Reimagine L & D. Dr. Sharad Kunte Chairman, Governing body and Council of Deccan Education Society; Mr. Mahesh Athavale, Vice Chairman, Governing Body and Council of DES; Mr. Adesh Gokhale Governing body member Dr S.N.
